Case Studies:

IBS - Client, female age 25 with chronic IBS. Suffered for seven years and traditional medical treatment failed to bring any remedy. Client's IBS was related to stress response and unresolved feelings regarding her family. Treatment included treatment to neutralise the root case event and mental rehearsal for her to future pace her in challenging situations. Trance work was solution focussed using client's key words for success.

CONFIDENCE - Client, female age 32 with lack of confidence. Client wanted to stop feeling self concisous about herself when meeting new people. Client reported that she felt as though she was 'living inside her head' and had negative self talk which left her feel shy and 'mincing up' her words. After first session together, client reported improvement with her overall well-being. She felt more assured and less initimated. After two more sessions, client reported that she was feeling great and felt able and actually looked forward to her public speaking engagements.

SMOKING - Client, male age 35 smoked for last 20 years about 15-20 cigarettes a day. During the case history it became clear the reason for his smoking he linked smoking to feeling calm. His triggers were stress at work. After working around his stress, teaching him a few techniques that would help him to curb the cravings, we were able to resolve his stress related issues and give him resources to counter-act this stress in the future. Client reported after one session he was able to quit without any problem. Six months later, the client has reported continued success.

BLUSHING - Client, male age 38, suffered from blushing which was caused from an anxiety response due to a triggering event in his past where he became hyper aware of his face turning red. The underlying cause of this was his expectatation it would happen and the fear of it, which created a cycle of thoughts, leading to the feelings of embarrassment (or possible) which lead to the feelings (or behaviour). We reframed the trigger event by neutralising the emotional charge around the memory / circumstance and fulfilled the intention of the behaviour in a resourceful way. After two sessions he felt he had reached his goal for therapy and after proving to himself in a situation that would have been a challenge, he had all the evidence he needed that things were indeed different and he had overcome his blushing response.
